A New Time… an Old place

Back in January, I had decided to write a “2011 Bucketlist” … it served as kind of an ongoing New Years resolution to help me to get to know myself better. It included things that were somewhat rare, somewhat normal, all the way to doing things I had been afraid to do previous and finding the confidence. Ultimately, it was about setting specific goals and reaching them– and here we are, 6 months in. Right on point, I have accomplished Half… yes, I put Blonde in my hair- i dolphin dived in the Atlantic and the Gulf in one day, I survived in the male workforce as a car salesman/woman… and finally, I find myself back at home, where my heart is, Naples, Florida.

I always knew deep down that I would end up coming back here. Atlanta although beautiful and bustling I found it  hard to leave some things in my past behind there. If I could make the trip back to the ocean, where I felt whole again I knew it would put me back in the shadow that I had been trying to chase and be a fit to move forward. So far, here, its been a lonely couple of days…. but exciting. I moved into a beautiful home- Palm trees hitting my window, waking me up every morning. I wake up, press the red button on my coffee pot, and to the drawing board I go on this spacious lanai overlooking a yard that accentuates the greenest grass I have ever seen- serving home to fruit trees of all kinds, at which point of course- I throw out a stick for my dog to fetch.  It took me (is taking me) a couple days to settle in. My car was completely full, and I have yet to reach the trunk yet.  Using my time wisely, I am designing Wreath graphs, scents, menus, color schemes and ideas for when I open a shop in the fall, and of course, lesson plans for Adgirlguru, which some of you know, is my advertising and consultation database. When those ideas die down slowly throughout the day, in between settling in, I have been writing chapters for my new book in which the title remains unknown and scripts for educational dvd release in the fall as well. When everything crumbled in my life a year and a half ago, everyone would take me to the side at different points, and they would ask me… ” What you need is to get to know yourself within”– True advice ranging from the sources of true friends all the way down to people in the restaurant business I hardly even knew. I was physically in need of some kind of advice/guidance strictly amongst my appearance alone. I would sit back often times and wonder to myself  ” How does one get to know oneself better?” I figured, I am with myself everyday… how could I ever know the answer to anything unless life put me in a situation to have to answer immediately to my own concerns?

Last week around this time, I set out on the very first vacation ever by myself, one that i knew I was never to return from- one to enlighten me and put me so much closer to accomplishing those other 50 things on that list of fears I was willing to take on. I went to Tallahassee- and spent time with the only daughter I have ever known thus far, and her beautiful son, and boyfriend, I went to Orlando from there, and was blessed enough to, after 30 years experience 4 parks that make up the most magical place on earth… Disney World- I took the Journey to Ft. Lauderdale where I swam with the dolphins, the manatees, and then- my final destination- Back home to Naples- a lush, somewhat tropical land, full of great friends and beauty- a land where my ideas run freely and wild, well beyond some of my greatest expectations!

I am anticipating what the fall is to bring for me. I am entering into this chapter of my life as a single, independent woman that is looking to find the answers to lifes untapped successes. People tell me that the thirties will be the best years of my life… I have decided that getting to know myself is in knowing exactly how to make my own luck, and to making that happen.

Doing whats best for you and your business

In the long run of things, it’s so much easier to let go of a dream or passion due to the recent state of the economy and not succeeding in trying and trying again.  To me, my computer is like an instrument. So my dreams for it are endless. I use it for almost everything, so it makes me more driven everyday to make my dreams a physical collaboration of putting my thoughts into words and putting my words into actions. I am currently taking a class at Georgia State University that is teaching me different techniques on how to stay with the most current trends in online media. I go over all the time the thoughts that people are wanting, what they are needing from devices, their own personal businesses, and what they can make into their brand.  It isn’t easy creating a concept that is useful for the average person as we are all so very different in all aspects of our personalities. All very much reminiscent of playing a very intricate game of connect the dots, trying to make mental lists of “this demographic is attracted to these points ” and others completely different ones.

Appealing as so many worlds in so many lives are, for me, as an individual, as I follow all aspects of current events, I mesh it with my ability to show the shaded areas of others’ minds with the light of other interests they never knew that they had. It’s a great salepoint or point in a business persons life when they can realize that they are capable of such feats as changing someones views on a particular item or service.

On a very personal not, I used this structure plan for my recent diet. I believed as though I was doing nothing wrong with continually eating right and just not exercising, or vice versa. Serious re-programming of my already overflowing brain enabled me to unload the stresses in my life and make room to shed light on that exact shaded area. The answer and what I had known all along was persistence in taking care of my body by using the two simultaneously. It was so hard, everyday I would work out and be so famished afterwords and to eat better, it is a necessity that you cook all of your food from scratch,so I was over the stove for long parts of my days. Setting my stubborn ways aside, I hired a full-time trainer to let go of the feelings of knowing everything to get a leg up on my bodies previous mental state.

I see all clients have a dream for their business, something that they want to accomplish in their specific roles in their life. Often times by the time they have reached my consultation firm, they are already at the point where they are almost ready to throw in the towel.  The Key is finding the part of you inside that is motivated for a better you… this is so hard for some people it can be something that they are not ready to admit that they have happening. Through the last year I have had many days where I thought that there wasnt going to be a chance for me to do certain things I always wanted to achieve. The following days were filled with hopes, dreams, and accomplishments, as I decided to push forward and pull through utilizing every step I could to turn my life into everything it should have been a long time ago, and finally to anticipate what is going to transpire from now until the not so distant future.  So true for others as well. I sit here anticipating the goal of teaching so many others how to make their businesses true success and victory. In life, in accomplishment, and in overall Success.

Breathe in the gifts of Success, a Second Chance at Reinventing the Wheel

Today it is another movement forward into March of 2011, a few warmer days here in Atlanta have sprung ahead, the time change complete, and as always, my mind turns consistently. Its pouring rain here in the city, with the smell of chlorophyll lingering through the air as some daffodils try to show their faces amongst our random strips of yard outside the building. I’m on page 87 of editing pages for the literary council coming up soon, their review will ensure my certification to continue the processes with the Advertising firm. I have figured out through this whole writing block process that I am hopelessly addicted to Reese’s Peanut butter Cups and am now wondering if the taste solves all of life’s stresses with just one brief moment as I take another bite.
Most recently, I have been teaching myself some new collaborating ideas on how to design and manage some new web applications as part of the research I need to update and modernize my files and lessons on consultation. Its been a grueling trial and error process, but I am starting to feel more confident in the patterns all the time. I am also writing a new agenda for my next  freebie tutorial on YouTube. That can be found by simply googling Evelynsopen Mind or.. Evelyn’s WreathConnection YouTube Channel. As I am sitting here, I am saddened by my lack of space to create some new wreaths at the time, I have a feeling the website in time will be getting a serious update with all of the research I am conducting, this is good because the pictures take way way too much time to load. I am fully aware that this aspect causes my viewers to lose interest due to impatience, and I gotta say, I don’t blame them. Throughout the time that has passed since I was full-time blogging, I started working at a Jazz Cafe here in Atlanta known as Sambuca. I was able to listen to beautiful talented artists on a regular basis everyday, unfortunately in January, the owner decided to close his doors, leaving me and a staff of amazing employees Jobless at the donning of the new year. I was saddened, but relieved as I was looking for a fresh start anyway. This has allowed me to take the time out and get back in touch with my followers– home decor agents, Advertisers, Marketers, Promoters, designers… ect.
I have been dabbling in teaching myself how to speak Spanish after pondering a move to Florida and coming to the realization that being bilingual in this industry can take you a long long way. I’m hoping to use this year to travel some as well. As I have mentioned in previous posts I had been somewhat of a leech to my office, only leaving to get a refill on a cup of coffee. With all of the modern technologies available today, I am now able to bring my work with me wherever I go… and its a blessing as it is teaching me to think further outside of the box into a world of travel and adventure. I’m making a “Bucketlist” detailing all of the adventures I want to squeeze in, ones I couldn’t accomplish while being overweight or being in the relationship that I had been in for so long. I am excited, as the weather is turning, I find myself doing crazy things like just for fun… quoting prices on trips to Europe, going to different art festivals around the country, and maybe even throwing myself out there in front of some top executives with some of my world-changing ideas. I hope to one day really be on the tip of something spectacular whether intentional or not. I will be sure to update here daily, as I am as anxious as you are to see where the next path is going to lead me! Evelyn Kish is letting the sun shine in again!! Evelyn Kish

I have several of my PC windows open to keep updating in realtime whats happening in the news, the weather, entertainment, technolgy and publications from all over the world so that I can ensure that the new book will be full of useful information for small business owners, retailers and wholesale shops can benefit greatly from on a more of an encyclopedia scale format. Whats fantastic is that is has been so much fun playing around with all of the advantages of some of these new devices. I recently have discovered the convenience of a Smarphone. Honestly, I am still learning new things about it everyday, all the time. Spending extra time to sink my fingernails into what makes the developers who are making this product grow into such a phenominon tick. Its quite somple at times really, you can tell the lack of compassion when you open an app that simply just doesnt work. The ones that took thought, time, and show a real sense of convenience are the ones of mine that are sticking out thus far. I even found an app that can control the television if  I wanted it to! Im telling ya, there arent any limits to what you can be capable of, no boundaries when coming up with a new business idea, and I dont know if it is just me, but I have tons of ideas on todays convenient modernicities!!

As far as the weather, I am watching it to stay current on the trends in the atmosphere, we just recently got hit by a horrible Earthquake/Psunami in Japan, and possibly an unfortunate Nuclear scare… it helps to stay tunes as it makes a huge difference when you find yourself connected to the spectrum of the world. I am hopelessly addicted to Nancy Grace. My sisters  and I joke that we were all supposed to be some sort of forensic analyst at one point or another, so I guess you can say I believe in Justice, and take great emotion in the investigation of it all. Politics… its tricky… while I stand true in the “One Nation under God” belief system, I wish I could get deeper in without having to pinch myself out of slipping into REM sleep. I care about the world, yes, but I want to make a massive impact- not just be known as “the little voice from the peanut gallery”- In that realm, I have been looking into possibly eventually starting a non profit charity of some kind. Driving through downtown, there are so many people around that are homeless, look cold, hungry, and lost. I figure, when I help one of them, it makes me smile for days, so if I could help a whole bunch of them, I think it would be something that would make me feel as though living life to the fullest was more of a gift than a constant reminder to check another page off of the “todo” list.  I am also an entertainment junkie. As Specializing in demographical research and statistical data for my businesses and my book, it is wise for me to stay current on the promotion of others as it lifts me by enabling me to stay with the happenings of the artists, celebrites ect. that are making the side of the brain in everyones mine go “hmmmmm” – in my business, at the end of the day, if I can have clients thinking about my affect long after consultation.. than, its been a good day!!

So Much has changed….

Vick vs. PR

I watched the 60 minutes with Michael Vick the other night and I am a true lover of animals. I am very oipinionated and jus tingk that a PR firm tryin to hold back the tomatoes from being trown at him fotball season is a far cry from the lives of the innocent animals that he took. THey are your best friends and love you unconditionally. They dont he voices and need us to speak for them He might has well of committed a murder in my eyes, because my og glodie is like a person to me.She is my best friend. To do what he did and still recieve million dollar contracts and endorsements makes me sick. Those PR firms in support of him should think about the crimesthey condone in coaching him on how to lie on natioal tv. Think about the look in the animals inno=cent faces…. Im from PA and saddened at Phillys representation right now. Pittsburgh is he place to be always and forever!

Fear of Flying

Tonight I am restless, thinking about the business and our well deserved vacation this week. I have been up all night the past few nights reading, to try to tame the thoughts in my head that re circling around my aura. A lapop is a blessing, however it is a curse at the same time. It frees me from holding the thought I have in, but, keeps me up all night venting… As most of you know, I have just reeased the new fall line, put it on an incredible sale. Between Etsy, here, blogger and like 5 other social venues, I am finding myself wondering what is going on with the net while Im workig on the wreaths! I lay in bed, tossing and turning thinking about ideas that come through that I am studting in my mind from the anxiety of possibly not being able to remember those ideas in the morning. I think about random things as well, such as.. the dress that Michelle Obama wore at the inauguration made the artist an overnight success with people lined up around his block to recieve glimpses of his other designs. What can I do to get that discovery? That certain stroke of luck running wild digging me out of this (just above water) mode that is this harsh economy. I will turn once more andpossibly throw a leg over a blanket to think of Economic stimulous plans and how banks can fail and pay their executives top dollar and fly them around in corporate jets for private parties… and I dont have health insurance? I have been reading a lot lately, some is what I call Fundamental reading for pleasure purposes, and the other half of spare time has been developing internet media and design kills for a new business I am lauching soon in Web development and advertising. The Librarians now me by name as I stroll through their halls at least once a week. Then, Comes my trip this week, while I could not be more excited, nd anxious about seeing my family- experiencing the familiarity wit childhood friends and the comforts ofhomebase surroundings, I am distracted from my slumberess thought by listening to a loud jet engine pass over the house. This sound, so deafening that its hard not to think about anything else other hat the huge plan flying overhead… at 5 am?? I fly often, but everytime, I wonder what if? What if they lose my luggage again like they did on Christma Last year? What if the hurricane gets closer and we are delayed? What if it comes while we are there and cant get back in time for work??? zI know, I must sound loopy… itis 530 AM and I am still awake, babbling in my blog (which I love) about thoughts circling my path. Speaking of path, I just designed a website for my mom that you should all ceck out– its called YourSpiritualpathways.com- and its not quite where we want it to be, but certainly on its way. I think my lack of sleep has something to do with the tea I had earlier (: Thanks for keeping up with me- check out the wreaths if you get the chance… they are so fabulous! WWW.Wreathconnecton.com and feel free to comment if you would like- I could use some cushioning to me new fear of flying (:

Just finished NewMoon

Stephanie Meyers has you yearning for more in the end ofthe second book in the Twilight series. I enjoyed it just as much as the first although, I had to use my imagination bit more with this one, and it was off a slower start in the beginning. The book proves a jealous circustance for the three of the leadig characters Bella, Edward and acob. Whie in Twilight you can never imagine Jacob coming into play, he sure does in the second… at times you can really tell these books were written for tweens because the love that bella and Edward share is always so methodically calculated romantically, like you fantasize about when you are a girl in your adolesence. As an older woman reading these novels, I have a hard time completlely sinking into the romance as I know certain loves like theirs are very rare- let alone living in the non existant world of Vampires and werewolves. Lemmie tell ya tho, Stephanie Meyers Style is flawless in putting you in the scene at the moments that make the book what it is, and she defenitely captures them in New Moon by making you feel as if you are on the edge of your seat- waiting for the other shoe to fall. I am off to start Eclipse on Wednesday, which I am intending on reading on my flight to PA. I can’t wait! I was actually trying to think (while on the last page) of scandalously driving to Wal-Mart in the middle of the night to get it sooner, its driving me crazy to be left hanging!! Make sure you come to visit the wreath site at ww.wreathconnection.com, as all of our wreaths over here have just hit a hue sale! Real Low ShippingPrices too!

Feelings and Memories of A Northern Fall

I was just thinking about how quikly the days pass, and how much different it is in the fall with the kids in school and all. Here in Florida we do not have the privledge of seasons, and one of the things I miss the most about PA is that when seasons change there, the leaves turn this beautiful color of orange, red and yellow, and the wind that passes through makes this snarly hooing sound. Its so much fun as the energies of the first days of school come through the towns, all the kids with their new schools and supplies. The sound and smell of the school buses that had been on hiatus for the last few months, blend in with the smell of dead crumpled leaves that fly across the street. As the fall months pass by, the the trees only get prettier and prettier while football season runs its course. You hear the faint sound of highschool bands practicing their trumpets and drums through the surrounding woods, echoeing off of the mountains. Closer and closer it comes to Halloween where masquerade is ok, and children get to swim in the best kinds of candy! A secret society of children speak of “which houses are giving the best sweet goods” and the parents and tweens pass by on the street. Excitement of great scary movies and insane adrenaline rush make the blood circulate quickly waiting at home beside the freshly buttered popcorn. A mere month later, Thanksgiving approaches, gathering all kinds of friends and family to go around and enjoy delectable goods that can only be enjoyed once a year. Ensuing conversations of memories of that passing year, and everything to be thankful for. While all full and tired, you retreat to the couches to watch the years best football games, napping in and out of each quarter from all of the turkey. I love fall as it, as a seaason passed almost in the blink of an eye. here in Florida, they all try for the same concept, but most locals have a hard time understanding what the true feeling of fall is like. They miss out on the leaves gorgeous shine off of the cliffs the leaves give in the crisp cold air, as they are given palm trees and 90 degree heat. Most costumes for halloween are light and thin, so that children do not overheat, and complexes run so close together that a child finishes their trick or treating even before it gets dark. The heat proves exhausting. The chocolate melts as they walk, putting a flame under them to make it home to enjoy its solidity. You still get to enjoy haunted houses, as it doesnt matter where you are from and the boos and ahhs still run fluent. Disney right around the corner, hosts a Horror night expedition that is sure not to miss. Special effects and fake smoke covers the neighborhood of Universal Studios. A secret pass enables you skipping line privledges that ensure you are able to see every house and all of their themes. Masquerade a favorite still amongst adults, however most would rather sit at home with air on high, waiting to pass out candy instead. So the fall brings something different for everyone, something personal from every attatched memory. The new line just unveiled yesterday, is an product of the personal feeling that fall gives to me. Years and months pass and it seems my memories of up north never change, they just get more vivid, as the feelings of fall down in Florida are filled with beach visits and seashell themed dishware. I tried to bring the old ,charismatic colors that scream out their holiday, their season, and overall charm. The warm scents and festive coloring display the energy and passion you would expect from the above… first day of school, the adrenaline from all of the candy, and the crispness of the air passing by your nose. I chose the colors in representation of a Northern fall, yet a southern charm. I hope that everyone is able to enjoy the wreaths personal affects, as the feelings rub off in the pictures almost. make sure to visit, and look at the line at WWW.WreathConnection.Com

Halloween Wreaths this year-

Deep Dark Chocolate Potpourri DreamAs much as for fall in which we absolutely love, we made some space in the collection from our favorite holiday, Halloween, by throwing some unique oranges and yellows into the mix. None are kiddie however, as this is a trial run to see how they go over, but, the pristine quality, texture, fragrance, and aesthetics of these pieces are just absolutely breathtaking.

The Wreathconnection Reviews “Twilight” The Book

We have just finished reading Twilight over here, as season starts to pick up in Naples, Florida, a couple rainy days have enabled me to finally finish it during downtime. I have to admit, I have already started the second book, New Moon, and will be reviewing on here as well, as I am curious if anyone else who has read as opposed to seeing the movie got the feelings that I felt when I read it.

The Dark, stormy prescence the book starts off with sets the scene for the entire atmosphere of the book, with a lonely girl (Bella) who is obviously in search for what she is missing in her life. As she is soon to meet Edward in her new school after leaving her moms house abrubtly ( for reasons I feel should have been more specified) but they leave it as her stepdad (or moms boyfriend) is trying to get signed to The Big Leagues in baseball over in jacksonville. She moves to Seattle, well, outside of Seattle, a small town called FORKS which immediately reminded me of the small town that I had grown up in… set a nice foundation. Meeting Edward is uncomfortable for her, but how the movie is, its more of an uncomfort between the two actors Kristin Stewart and Robert Pattinson… In the book you get a detailed description of how the odd looks and wierd bodily positions were actually somewhat of the attraction they had for each other, Edward in paticular, who finds her smell soooo sweet.
They begin to court, as she continues to beg him to make her into a vampire, which as they date, she is exposed to all of the abnormalities in which a vampire must go through, such as… Uncomfort around certain people with certain smells, living forever, moving around all the time.. But this insane attraction she has is clearly blinding her to anything other than the lust she endures. A defiant Edward consistently tells Bella he loves her so much he basically wants her to Be Free, while through the book she literally argues with him, which I feel in the movie was downplayed just a bit. The friends in the movie are a tad Dorkier than I had imagined in the book, and some of the characters in the book were hardly mentioned in the movie. Towards the middle of the book, you feel the intensity of their situations, paving the way for the bad vampires to come and take over. Take over by crashing their baseball game that they are only playing because of the thunder and lightning, probably one of my most favorite parts, as it sent my blood running faster as I thought the thunder analogy with the bats hitting the ball was genious, and it was defenitely part of the book that made me sit up a bit straiter. The obvious worst vampire Jasper has his Eyes on Bella, and is obviously not going to resist until he gets her… A huge runaround takes effect, the book is so spectatular at this point because the family is fleeing in one direction to create a diversion in Bella’s scent, and Bella, along with Edwards Brother and sister are fleeing to Phoenix where she is from, as she very sadly fakes a breakup with Edward and breaks her fathers heart to get him to let her go. She is called from her moms house in which she left a message from jasper himself who had become keen to the scent trick many many miles ago. He Threatens her, which in the movie the “Ballet” studio I thought was awful “Dark” to be an old studio, however, I guess I can Agree with Stephanie Meyer on not putting the scene in an old church as that presents somewhat of a cliche. Bella gets bitten and Edward turns up out of nowhere… the family “takes care” of Jasper, the only way they can, while Edward is forced to suck the poison out of Bella’s system so she cannot fall suseptable to the fate of a vampire. She wakes in the hospital, mother in toe, and father at the Cafeteria ( never explaining how the reaction was when the three of them (Edward, Mom, and Dad) reacted when they found out the breakup was a big ploy, and obviously were never made privy to any of the information as to what really happened.. they asked no questions? I dont know about you, but I would be allll over that! She awakes to Edward faking a sleep (as they dont sleep) to hear Bellas mom plea for her return to home (now in Jacksonville) she explains to her mom how she doesnt want to go, and then pleas with Edward on how they shouldn’t breakup just over what had happened.
I wont go into the end, in case you are one of the few people who havent read the book or seen the movie. I simply loved the book, like I said ” I am reading the next one” however, I wish that the attraction was tamed just a tad, as you get popped out of reality every once in awhile when your so engrossed, realizing that a regular person may just decide staying human is probably a better possibility for everyone.
